From the Desk of Brent Greer, County Mayor
The
Henry County Budget Committee has finalized
the budget for FY 08-09. The committee has
instructed my office to present the budget
for consideration at the July 21st meeting
of the Henry County Commission. Subject to
their action, we will publish the budget and
present it for final approval on August 4,
2008. The presented budget requires no new
taxes and includes a 2.8% cost of living
increase for employees.
In other news, the Henry County Highway
Supervisor, Ray Norwood, has proposed a plan
to secure a loan through the Tennessee
Government Loan Pool in the amount of $3.5
million. He plans to us this amount over a
three to four year period to repair and
upgrade county roads. The loan will be
repaid from the wheel tax revenues.
Construction should begin in early July on
the Skykits building at the Henry County
Airport. The business plans to be in
operation by the end of 2008.
The County is waiting on final approval fro
the Federal Park Service to begin
construction on the Emergency Services
Complex at Paris Landing State Park. We hope
to begin the project in early fall of 2008.
As you may notice, Henry County is in the
process building a county government web
site. This has been a lengthy process and
will continue to take time as more content
is added. Please be patient as we continue
to work with local officials to get useful
information added to our site. The internet
continues to gain popularity as a way to
showcase communities and communicate
services offered.
